What is the Legion of Mary?
It is the largest organization of apostolic lay people in the Catholic Church with well over a million active members in every country of the world. It has been active in the U.S. since 1931.
Who can join?
Any Catholic who is willing to work for the legion’s ideals of interest in others and self-development is welcome.
What are the opportunities?
The Legion of Mary will help you follow the Holy Father’s exhortation to evangelize the unchurched and the fallen-away by extending an invitation to become acquainted or re-acquainted with the Catholic church, enrollment of children in Religious Education if not attending Catholic school, assist in the convalidation or marriages, visiting the elderly and the sick in homes, hospitals, rehabilitation centers and care homes, visiting prison inmates, promoting the rosary and home Mass/Enthronement of the United Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and acquainting parishioners of on-going adult educational programs among other things. Such opportunities and many more can be yours in become an active member of the Legion of Mary.
When do they meet?
The Legion of Mary meets every Saturday morning from 9:00am to 10:00am in the Bachelot Hall Conference Room at Sacred Heart Church.
No sign-up is required so if you’d like to join the Legion, all you need to do is show up!
